Who We Are
Community Mission for Hope
Community Mission for Hope
A non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida, USA
This organization was born following the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti; it is the dream and brainchild of Dr. Raymond Pierre, a graduate of Haitian State University, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, where he became certified to practice medicine. Dr Raymond worked at Saint Antoine Hospital in Jeremie, Haiti. He went on to become a physician for five health centers of the Health Department in Grand’Anse through the USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development) and CARE-Haiti. From 1999 to 2003, he served as project manager of a health program on HIV/AIDS, financed by USAID and private American donors.
Following the Haiti earthquake, Raymond returned to Haiti to render whatever aid he could. For two weeks, Dr. Raymond treated the injured for their physical and psychological wounds. Although Raymond’s immediate family in Haiti survived the earthquake, he is no stranger to the tragedy that unfolded. His cousin lost her leg and sustained multiple other wounds. His pregnant sister-in-law endured two weeks in a coma after an eclampsia and damaged her lungs. Now she is living with the help of her oxygen tank. For us who could only witness the event on our televisions, Raymond and his family have lived it. For us, Raymond puts a face to the kind of tragedy we all fear but hope we will never face.
Following the disaster in Haiti many Americans, particularly in Naples, stepped forward to help in whatever way they could. Some made small donations, others donated medical supplies. Some offered support with their prayers and many more donated through various nonprofit organizations to support the Haitian people. Raymond’s co-workers, the NCH Healthcare System and the First Baptist Church of Naples supported Raymond’s trip to Haiti. When Raymond returned, everyone who had supported his trip to Haiti listened to his story. Everyone talked about the tremendous amount of work that would be required to rebuild this country. But most importantly, they discussed the tremendous need for medical, dental and psychological treatment. And out of these discussions, a vision emerged; a plan, and an organization we named “Community Mission for Hope”. (CMH)
Community Mission for Hope will establish a mobile medical clinic that will bring lifesaving care and medical supplies to those areas where the sick and injured need it most. It will certainly become an organization that the Haitian people can embrace as their own and rely on for years to come. And most importantly it will be an accountable organization that will wisely use the funds raised on behalf of the Haitian people to do exactly what it is intended for: Help Haiti. Our immediate goal is to raise about $400,000. for our first mobile clinic.
