After being back in the US for a couple of weeks and having time to reflect on everything we saw while in Haiti and seeing the different programs on TV that have shown the mismanagement of the charitable goods sent to Haiti, it is obvious that what is needed immediately is a strong individual (not a committee) capable of coordinating between those governments that have been willing to contribute to Haiti’s needs and the government of Haiti who control what can be done in their country. I think there are still plenty of people and governments that want to help but will be reluctant to do so in the future if it is not shown that these resources can be well managed. There is plenty to be done and it can be accomplished with the right management who has the proper authority and knowledge of all factions involved. Let’s hope that happens sooner than later.
