The struggle of Haiti, a Journey with Dr Raymond in Haiti
The risk of an epidemic in Haiti is very high all the conditions are in place this is not a matter of if but when. The insalubrities, the promiscuity, the lack of education, the infra human condition in which the people of the tent cities are living are some parameters that clearly indicate that an epidemic might be on the way. The only missing puzzle is a vector that the rainy season could easily provide. The stagnant water from the rain could be the first step for the development of an epidemic of Malaria. Haiti is a mountain country, in some places the tents have no restroom available, and the rain will drain all the fecal to the mouth of the people of the tent cities and eventually trigger an epidemic of typhoid, cholera etc. It seems to me that there is already a considerable augmentation of the dermatological conditions that are not being diagnosed mostly within the group of kids of these tents. So much of what could be done to help are not this makes the situation looks overwhelmed and it is very hard to understand why? The tent cities program is not a sustainable way to help those victims of the earthquake, there should be a strategy to get rid of those tents within 6 months with an incentive program that encourage these people to move to other places in the country where they have relatives. The tent city in Port-au-Prince as it is now is a health-hazard for the general population.

That’s some inspirational stuff. Under no circumstances knew that opinions may be this varied. Thanks for all the enthusiasm to present such beneficial information the following.
